Ghana Facebook Ads Benchmark Report 2025: Real CPM, CTR & CPC Data

Published 25 August 2025Updated 26 August 202512 min read

What does advertising on Facebook actually cost in Ghana? We pulled twelve months of data from 250+ campaigns we manage for local businesses — real CPM, CTR, CPC, and cost-per-WhatsApp-conversation numbers by industry.

If you plan your ad budget using global "average Facebook CPM" articles, you are planning with the wrong map. Ghana has its own pricing, its own engagement habits, and its own definition of success — usually a WhatsApp conversation that becomes a sale.

This report replaces guesses with twelve months of first-party data from campaigns we manage for Ghanaian businesses: real cedi amounts spent, real reach, and the metric that actually matters here — cost per WhatsApp conversation.

How we collected this data

  • Window: campaigns live between August 2024 and July 2025.
  • Volume: 250+ boosted posts and ads across Facebook and Instagram.
  • Placements: Feed, Reels, and Stories.
  • Objectives: WhatsApp messages, traffic, engagement, video views.
  • Currency: all figures in GHS as billed by Meta.

Benchmarks by industry

Medians, not averages — medians resist distortion by one viral outlier. If your numbers are dramatically worse than your industry row, something specific is wrong, and it is usually creative or targeting rather than "Facebook being expensive".

Video outperforms static creative — consistently

Across the portfolio, short vertical video beat static flyers on every engagement metric we track. The pattern held for restaurants showing food being prepared, boutiques showing fabric in motion, and salons showing transformations.

What pushes costs up (and down)

Two campaigns in the same industry can see CPMs 40% apart. The gap is almost always explained by these factors:

  • Raises costs: December festive window (+20–35% CPM), city-wide audiences, creative live longer than four weeks, event-driven bidding spikes.
  • Lowers costs: 3–5 km neighborhood radii, fresh creative every 3–4 weeks, the WhatsApp-messages objective, and audiences built from page engagement.
  • Neutral: day of week — Ghanaian feeds stay active through the weekend.
  • Watch: boosting without targeting wastes an estimated 40–60% of spend on people who will never visit you. See our boosting service for the targeted approach.

How to read your own results

  1. Compare your CPM to your industry row. Much higher? Suspect audience size or stale creative first.
  2. CTR under 1% is a creative problem, not a budget problem — change the flyer or video before adding spend.
  3. Cost per conversation above ₵7.50 usually means the offer needs sharpening, not the ads.
  4. Judge campaigns on conversations and orders, never on likes. Reach without WhatsApp messages is decoration.

Frequently asked questions

Are these official Facebook numbers?

No. These are medians from the 250+ campaigns we manage directly for Ghanaian businesses, measured inside real Ads Manager accounts we operate. Facebook publishes audience sizes, not performance benchmarks.

Why are my own CPMs higher than this table?

The usual causes: running during the December festive window, a very narrow audience (under ~50,000 people), placements outside Feed and Reels, or creative that has been live more than four weeks.

Do these figures include agency fees or taxes?

No — they are pure media costs as reported by Meta. If an agency manages your ads, expect their service fee on top (ours is 15–20% of spend, minimum ₵100).

How often is this benchmark updated?

Annually, with quarterly refresh notes. This edition covers August 2024 through July 2025. Bookmark this page — the updated date at the top always reflects the latest revision.
